Like all motorcycle manufacturers, Ural Motorcycles is always pleased to announce important anniversaries, technological milestones and new products - all marking the history and progress of the company. However, this particular press release is especially significant because 2021 will mark the launch of a hitherto impossible technical achievement – manually selectable 2WD on a left-hand sidecar.

Breaking new ground:

Until recently, the ever popular 2WD Ural “Ranger” (or “Gear Up” as it is sometimes called) was only available in countries which drive on the right. Achieving the Euro5 certification milestone helped create the conditions to allow Ural Motorcycles to focus on long-established left-hand traffic markets (such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland and the UK) – clearing the way for the development of a left-hand sidecar 2WD system, something that customers in those markets were crying out for.

New adventures in 2021:

Left-hand 2WD will be introduced into production for the 2021 MY so, very soon, customers from left-hand traffic countries will enjoy all of the capabilities of their righthand sidecar friends and will be able to ride even more confidently in mud, on gravel and even in deep snow! Australian “Uralistas” will be able to take deliveries of the first LH 2WD Urals in February 2021, with other markets to follow shortly thereafter.

Ease of engagement:

2WD is selected manually and engages instantaneously, so should you encounter a loose or slippery surface during a river crossing, climbing a sloping bank, descending a steep downhill - or even just ploughing through deep mud - simply shift the 2WD lever
and continue effortlessly on your way.

Well-equipped as standard:

The Ranger comes laden with loads of accessories as standard equipment including: Spare wheel with integrated luggage rack; sidecar accessory panel for charging mobile devices and powering other electrical items; foldable utility shovel; jerry can; sidecar bumper with LED fog lights and sidecar tonneau cover.

All road adventures:

A Ural Ranger with 2WD is great for both on-road and off-road adventures, turning country roads and forest tracks, gravel fire roads and muddy mountain trails into your personal riding space.

745cc “boxer” engine:

Ural Motorcycles are designed to cruise at up to 65 mph (105 kmh). Ural’s in-house developed 745cc “boxer” engine, optimized for powerful low-end torque, perfectly complements the riding dynamics of the all-steel, independently sprung sidecar.

Reverse Gear:

In addition to a specially developed 4 forward-speed transmission, every Ural comes with
a mechanical reverse gear. Reverse is engaged using the lever located above the rightside rider’s footrest.
